The list below is of January 2025 Parkinson's-focused webinars and virtual events with speakers.
Happy New Year!!! In addition to the usual fare, there are a few noteworthy topics in January:
  • The Close Contact for Couples course, every Sunday in January, helps couples communicate better and accomplish activities of daily living as a team.
On Jan. 8 I will be tuning in to hear about the Many Forms of Carbidopa/Levodopa, including two new therapies recently approved by the FDA.
There are two webinars about speech. Learn about Speak Out speech therapy by the Parkinson's Voice Project on Jan. 14 and then the benefits of SpeechVive voice amplification on the 22nd.
There are also two webinars about maintaining independence. First, the Personal Care Series on Jan. 21 and 28 is a presentation by occupational therapists with tips and tricks for dressing, bathing, cooking, and more. And on Jan. 23 Practical Tips to Maintain Independence and Make Life Easier will share accommodations for travel, hobbying, exercise, and socialization.
Lastly, on Jan. 31 there's a talk on Psilocybin Therapy for Depression in PD.
We encourage you to register NOW for anything of interest.  That way, if you aren't able to attend the live event, you will be alerted when the recording is available. (Note that not everything will be recorded.)
About the list below, unless indicated, all webinars and virtual events are:
Times listed as PT.  (We are based in California, after all.)
One-hour in duration.  (Usually, the speaker talks for 30-40 minutes and there's a question-and-answer session for the remaining time.)
  • If there is no speaker indicated, the speaker is unknown at the time of this email.
  • For a general audience.
  • Not focused on a single medication or single, branded treatment.  (Those are excluded.)
  • Free.
We at Stanford Parkinson's Community Outreach occasionally attend a webinar and share our notes.  Notes from excellent PD-focused webinars are often posted to our blog at https://parkinsonsblog.stanford.edu.
